SUMMARY:Heartless
DESCRIPTION:BLUE CEILING DANCE CELEBRATES 20 YEARS WITH “HEARTLESS” — PREMIERES OCT.17\n \nAs a part of Citadel Live 24-25, Blue Ceiling Dance is premiering the new solo, heartless, by choreographer-dancer Lucy Rupert.\nCan a creature without a heart act morally?\nHeartless are episodes in the life of a robot, chapters of a peculiar book of moral philosophy, and a song without words. It started with questions about the mythology, “personhood” and moral status of robots but has tunneled down into rabbit holes of war, love, and self-control, biography, and fiction.\nBuilding on the diverse experiences of her career – from political history to theatre and circus work, motherhood to metaphysics – heartless is both deeply personal and completely synthetic.\nWith lighting design by veteran designer Gabriel Cropley, outside eye support from long-time Blue Ceiling dance collaborator, Sky Fairchild-Waller, and a medley of music from significant periods in the evolution of robots, “Heartless” opens the black box of the title creature, and pulls out all the moving parts.\n \nPurchase your tickets at  citadelcie.com/events/heartless\nDates: October 17-19 at 8 pm | October 20 at 4 pm\nLocation: 304 Parliament St., Toronto, Canada \nTickets:  $35\nArtist/student/senior rate with code CITADEL25\n \nblueceilingdance.com ( http://www.blueceilingdance.com )@blueceilingdance @lucy.rupert\nHeartless was created with the support of Fujiwara Dance Inventions Solo Lab, the National Ballet of Canada’s Open Space Program, and residencies at the Ucross Foundation and Wild Rose Farm\n
