TITLE: FESTIVAL OF NEW DANCE (FND) COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Type: Part-Time

Contract Schedule: 8 weeks, 15hrs/week (August 23rd - Oct 15 )

Compensation: $3,000.00

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

Neighbourhood Dance Works (NDW) has an outstanding 40-year history as the premier presenter of dance in the heart of Newfoundland and Labrador. A respected leader in the cultural milieu, we spearhead a wide range of programs that have etched an indelible mark on the cultural life of our province. Since 1981, NDW has dedicated its resources to the development of a vibrant artistic dance scene, supporting artists who represent a plurality of practices. We commit to the creation, dissemination and collaboration of new dance experiences through workshops, residencies, collaborations, commissions, critical discourse and presentation through the Festival of New Dance (FND) and seasonal mainstage events.

This year the 30th Anniversary Festival of New Dance will take place from Oct 4 - 9, 2021, in St John’s, NL with the LSPU Hall as our festival headquarters.

TITLE: FESTIVAL OF NEW DANCE (FND) COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Type: Part-Time / Contract
Schedule: 8 weeks, 15hrs/week (August 23rd - Oct 15 )

Compensation: $3,000.00

Reports to: Artistic Director, Festival of New Dance Coordinator, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • ●  Support the development of the FND Print and Digital Program

  • ●  Support the development of Media Press Kit and regular newsletters using Mailchimp

  • ●  Support the Implementation of a dynamic promotion plan (with input from NDW staff & FND

    Coordinator)

  • ●  Coordinate and carry out a media schedule

  • ●  Maintain a record and archive of all promotion materials generated

  • ●  Updating and generating media posts and spotlight hits to target audiences and patrons

  • ●  Reformat FND images for various platforms

  • ●  Arranging FND paid ads and have billboard produced and installed (LSPU Hall)

  • ●  Support communication needs for FND merchandising and on-line NDW/FND Store

  • ●  Promote FND special events and anniversary exhibitions

  • ●  Organize content to pitch to potential media outlets to elevate the overall FND brand, attract

    audience-goers and promote ticket sales

  • ●  Generate ‘FND Thank You’ posts and ‘FND Highlights Newsletter’ (post FND)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • ●  Exceptional ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, by establishing and achieving goals in a timely manner;

  • ●  Proven ability to work and liaise productively and positively with staff, board of directors, funders, community partners and volunteers;

  • ●  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a keen eye for detail;

  • ●  Exceptional work ethic, interpersonal skills, integrity, diplomacy and discretion;

  • ●  Creative thinker who demonstrates leadership.

    ASSETS

  • ●  Previous work experience in a communications capacity

  • ●  Knowledge of design software, such as Photoshop

  • ●  Knowledge of the cultural and non-profit sector with a focus on promoting the performing arts

  • ●  Knowledge of the regional cultural industry, key funders and media contacts
