  1. Can you tell us a little bit about your company/collective/school?

Canada’s Ballet Jörgen is a classical ballet company that aims to make ballet accessible and relevant to 21st century audiences. We like to tell Canadian stories and always reflect a Canadian identity in our programming. Every season, CBJ performs coast to coast reaching more communities with dance programming than any other organization in Canada.

  1. Can you talk about your creative process? What inspires you?

Canada’s Ballet Jӧrgen was founded with a mandate to support the development and dissemination of Canadian choreography. Since its inception, CBJ has exclusively danced works created for the company by Canadian and Canada based choreographers.

 

  1. Do you have any other up-coming performances/events you would like to share?

CBJ will be touring across Canada with Anastasia from January 13 to April 30, 2018

 

  1. What is one thing you love most about your dance community?

Through everything, the dance community remains a place of inclusivity, positivity and good.

 

  1. What does performing at the 25th Annual DanceWeekend mean to you?

It is an honour to share the stage with other inspiring artists and to witness firsthand the impact the arts has on the lives of Ontarians.

 

  1. What is one surprising/interesting fact about your company/collective/school?

This season, Canada’s Ballet Jӧrgen celebrates its 30th anniversary. Since its inception CBJ has reached 305 communities, including 246 within Canada and 59 in the US.
