Culture Shock Canada is a not-for-profit dance organization that features dance troupes of all ages. Our dancers range from under 10 years old to over 50 years young. We are dedicated to encouraging positive lifestyles, physical fitness, and community involvement.

Our charitable sector, Culture Shock Canada Charity, addresses social isolation and self-esteem through structured urban dance-based education and enrichment programs for youth.

What will you be sharing at DanceWeekend’22?

Three of our dance teams will be performing a collaborative piece as Culture Shock Canada.

How has the pandemic shifted your work as a professional dance artist?

We are in a stage of re-building our dance teams and our community outreach programs. Dance has been a place for our dancers to stay connected during the pandemic.

Please share what you are most looking forward to at Dance Ontario’s return to live performances at DanceWeekend?

Sharing space and positive energy with others.

Do you have any up-coming performances/workshops/events you would like to share?

Culture Shock Canada will be hosting the Culture Shock International Annual Choreographers Showcase in Ottawa, ON, on October 21-23, 2022.

In 1 or 2 sentences, what does dance mean to you?

Dance to us means “family” and “connection”. It is a means of expression and reaching out to others in our community, locally and internationally.
