Can you tell us little bit about your company/collective/school?

I have a project based company. The first project we did was a short dance film named Diversion in 2015 the film explored the repercussions of materialism. The film can be viewed on utube under the name Diversion Dance Film. In the summer of 2017, I self produced the very first full evening of dance for the company. The evening was comprised of two works: Shedding Eve a solo created for freelance dance artist Amy Hampton and Anvil 18 a group work for 7 dancers. We performed at the Dancemakers Centre for Creation to two packed houses. 2018 was a productive year for the company, we had the pleasure to perform and share Anvil 18 with a new audience at Dance Weekend 2018 and we were invited to be a part of Spotlight on Israeli Culture festival to do the dance portion. The evening took place at the Betty Oliphant Theatre and was a success it included Shedding Eve, Anvil 18 and a new creation In Between.

What are showing at DanceWeekend’19?

In Between a Trio for 2 Ladies and one Gentleman. This work explores how it feels to be torn between two places.

Can you talk about your creative process? What inspires you?

There are different things that inspire me. Beautiful music, injustice and wishing to change things for the better and the people I work with. When creating a new work I do a lot of improvisation on my own a lot of writing down of different ideas and from there things start to slowly take shape.

Please share your experience performing in a previous DanceWeekend and/or tell us what you are looking forward to at DanceWeekend’19?

The experience of performing and being part off Dance Weekend last year was wonderful! It was so great to meet other artists and see their work and to be able to share my work with a new audience! I was so grateful to be a part of Dance Weekend for the first time and for the positive feedback I received. Dance Ontario’s Dance Weekend brings together such a diverse group of artists which I think is very important and very exciting both for us and the audiences.

What is one surprising or interesting fact about your company/collective/school?

So far all of my group works always have just one male dancer in them and the rest are female.
