Vamsham, Regatta kalakendra cordially invites you to Vamsham- Bharathanatyam Solo recital by Suhithakumar Maanikkavasagam, disciple of Harikishan S Nair, at Maja Prentice Theatre , 3650 Dixie Road, Mississauga , ON L4Y 3V9

Vamsham is a newly created hour-long classical piece that draws on the performative language and structure of South Indian classical dance form Bharatanatyam. The dance has a set structure called a margam, which consists of different Bharatanatyam pieces, each of which has its own unique choreographic, movement, melodic, and rhythmic structures. Some of these pieces—known as nritta—concentrate more on technical and abstract motions, while others—known as nritya—concentrate on narrative and expressive storytelling. 

this production is collaborating with five emerging Indian classical musicians to perform the musical compositions for the performance. Live music is an essential element of Bharatanatyam, as it has been historically and traditionally presented in this manner, and adds depth, authenticity to the performance.
