FAQ

How long do memberships last?

Dance Ontario memberships are annual and valid throughout the year in which they’re purchased. This means any membership bought, at any time during the year will expire on December 31 of that same year. You can register for membership at any time.

Membership is valid only throughout the year in which it is purchased. All memberships expire on the last day of the calendar year.

Our fee structure operates as follows:

  • Jan 1 – Sep 30: full price
  • Oct 1 – Dec 16: half price
  • Dec 17 – Dec 31: no fee

For online (credit card) registrations, memberships automatically renew January 1st. (Of course, you can cancel at any time!)

For members who pay by cheque, manual renewal is required.

The members in our community are unique and we love that! To best serve you, our membership types – Group, Individual, Student, Affiliate and Associate – have distinct benefits curated for maximum impact. To see a comparison of each membership type and their benefits, check out our overview here.

Yes! We encourage all of our members to stay engaged by:

  • voting on key issues at our annual general meeting
  • becoming more involved in the association’s decision-making processes by applying to become a board member
  • joining one of our committees
  • Volunteering with us

If you teach using recorded copyrighted music for your classes, you need a SOCAN license. This allows you to legally use the music while making sure the composers are fairly compensated. Learn more.
