Vishakha is a devoted practitioner of Odissi, one of India’s classical dance, based in Toronto. She is an active company dancer with Mrudanga Dance Academy of Toronto, under the guidance of Guru Enakshi Sinha. Born and raised in Kolkata, India, Vishakha began her training at the age of three with Guru Sharmila Biswas at OVM Kolkata. Over the course of 15 years, she underwent rigorous academic-style training that shaped her artistic foundation and deepened her commitment to performance.
After moving to Canada, Vishakha continued her journey with Guru Enakshi Sinha, the esteemed founder and artistic director of Mrudanga Academy of Performing Arts. As part of Mrudanga’s ensemble, she has performed across Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec, bringing Odissi to diverse audiences. Her artistry has been featured at prominent festivals including NightShift Festival by Fall for Dance North, Horizon Series Emerging Artist Festival by Sampradaya Dance Creations, Toronto International Dance Festival, and the Feats Festival organized by the Alberta Dance Alliance.
Vishakha thrives on collaboration with fellow artists, finding inspiration in shared creativity. She strives to embody Odissi’s essence through a harmonious blend of technique, grace, and elegance, illuminating the timeless beauty of the form in every performance.
