The Toronto-Mumbai (T-M) simulcast brought two internationally renowned Indian dance companies together to share a common virtual stage and a common performance time over the internet thus bridging the enormous gaps between their physical locations and time zones. The simulcast commenced Saturday March 15th at 9:30am EST in Toronto (which will be 7pm GMT in the evening in Mumbai). Toronto audiences witnessed the ‘ Governor General‘s Life Time Achievement Award and Walter Carsen Performing Arts Prize` winning choreographer Menaka Thakkar’s work ‘Chitra’ danced live at The Fleck Dance Theatre by 10 dancers of Menaka Thakkar Dance Company, while Mumbai audiences viewed the same dancing simultaneously through “live streaming” from Toronto; and after intermission, Mumbai audiences witnessed the work, ‘Black Swan’ by the renowned Indian choreographer , Preeti Patel , danced live by the 21 dancers of her Anjika Manipuri Dance while Toronto audiences viewed the same work simultaneously at the Fleck Dance Theatre through “Live Streaming “ from Mumbai.
These productions were live streamed to multiple locations both in the morning as well as at 2.30 PM (Toronto time) on Saturday March 15.
Also, on the same day evening performance were live streamed to multiple locations in real time at the same price as above. .
