On November 3, 2021, the Honourable Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries (MHSTCI) announced $4 million (including program administration costs) for Indigenous Arts Support. This one-time project program will assist Indigenous artists and arts organizations working in any artistic discipline supported by OAC to research, develop, create and present new work, to build capacity and to engage with their communities. More information will be available in the coming weeks.
Minister MacLeod also shared details about the $1 million allocated to grants for individual artists that she announced in March 2021. Career Catalyst: Project Grants for New Generation Artists is a one-time program for 18- to 30-year-old professional artists working in any artistic discipline funded by OAC to support career-building activities as artists recover from pandemic-related challenges. Grants are set at $2,000, and the program is open for applications.
