Last February, the Trudeau government announced the creation of the Canadian Performing Arts Workers Resilience Fund managed by Canadian Heritage.
The Canadian Dance Assembly has received over $3.88 million from this fund to provide direct assistance of up to $2,500 to dancers in need of urgent support.
CDA and all partners will ensure that funds are distributed in a simple and efficient manner. We will prioritize those who have been hardest hit by the pandemic: IBPOC, racialized, LGBTQ2S, Deaf, disabled, minority language speakers, rural and underserved areas, and do so with an intersectional approach to best serve marginalized dancers in need.
CDA was selected with La Fondation des artistes, The Actors’ Fund of Canada and The Unison Benevolent Fund, following a national call for applications.
CDA worked with partners in this collaborative effort including:
