Hard work really pays off! After weeks of daily voting by committed supporters, friends and staff, the Quinte Ballet School of Canada (QBSC) is proud to announce they placed first in ADP’s Small Business Grant Contest and are the recipient of $10,000! A payroll processing and human resource company with offices across Canada, ADP offers a $10,000 grant each month from November to April to a small business chosen by an internal jury. To qualify for this final jurying process, the five businesses with the most online votes by the end of each month were chosen to be reviewed. QBSC was informed in early May they had placed in the top five after the April voting period and are deeply grateful to the many dedicated people who helped make this a goal achieved.
“We are thrilled to be chosen the winner from 651 submissions across Canada” remarks Marilyn Lawrie, Executive Director for QBSC. “We will use this grant to fund three major projects for the School that will directly impact both the Professional Division and the Recreation Division students.” Some of the ADP funding will be used to create bursaries targeted at boys who wish to attend QBSC’s full-time program. A portion of the grant will also be used to defer expenses for professional guest faculty throughout the academic year and summer school as well as providing more ballet classes with live accompaniment. The remainder of the funding will allow for substantial refurbishments to existing costumes as well as adding to the costume inventory. In addition to the cash award, QBSC will have their payroll fees waived for one year. A cheque presentation will take place in Toronto in late June.
The Quinte Ballet School of Canada wishes to thank all of their enthusiastic supporters who voted and shared them into the ‘Top Five’ and to ADP in being chosen as their April winner!
