The Alberta provincial budget was released in November with significant cuts to arts funding scheduled over the next three years. The cuts in this fiscal year will likely impact our sister organization, the Alberta Dance Alliance (ADA). The CDA is working closely with the ADA on advocacy to support dance artists and organizations in Alberta. The ADA will be conducting a survey about the economic impact of job loss in the arts and culture sector – for members in the province, please participate in the survey.
CDA will be in touch again with specific letter templates once more details have been confirmed by the provincial funder, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Right now, it is vital that we make the Alberta government aware of the importance of dance to the lives and livelihoods of Albertans.
