CADA-ON is in the process of updating their Professional Standards for Dance (PSD) document to create a new version. Specifically, they are aiming to make the document more inclusive by developing standards for professional dance forms that are currently under represented in our membership. They are also evaluating the ‘user friendliness’ of the PSD and taking an overarching look at how to make the document as helpful and relevant as possible.
They began this research in 2013 by looking at African Diaspora and urban dance forms and how they could be better supported by CADA-ON. I am continuing this process with them now by surveying and talking to individuals in the dance community from a wide span of dance practices.
I would like to invite you to distribute the survey I have made for CADA-ON to your membership, and within your own organization, for the purposes of this research. It is available now online at:
I will be facilitating some focus groups in mid June as well. If any of your staff or members are interested in participating, they can email me at [email protected].
By participating in this research, you can let CADA-ON know what the specific needs of your dance work are and help them make informed decisions when updating their Professional Standards for Dance.
