What is Nightfall?

Nightfall is a curated short film screening series showcasing films that explore movement. We aim to highlight exceptional short films while fostering a vibrant space for local film professionals, dance filmmakers, and audiences to build meaningful connections.

Movement can take many forms, from physical motion and dance to camera movement, abstract expressions of energy, time, or emotion. Nightfall welcomes films that creatively explore and interpret movement in all its dimensions.

Nightfall 2025 Theme:

Curated by Mio Sakamoto, Geanderson Mello, and guest curators based in Toronto, the theme of Nightfall 2025 is “Home”.

Home can mean many things—a sense of belonging, a physical place, or a connection to people, culture, and memories. It may represent the home we leave behind or the one we create anew. Nightfall 2025 invites films that clearly explore the complex and varied interpretations of home, whether literal, emotional, or symbolic.
