Artistic Legacy Preparation Webinars

One of comedian George Carlin’s most famous routines was called “A Place to Put My stuff.” If George were still with us, he would probably have updated it to “A Place to Leave My Stuff.”
Okay, it’s not a pleasant topic. But we all have to face our inevitable departure. And, for artists, it is an even more important topic. Visual artists in particular have a lifetime of works they will pass on when they, well, pass on. But the same holds true for other artists who have a legacy of work.
Whether it be canvases, books, music, plays, screenplays, designs — even a professional website — they should be provided for.
As part of our TELUS Webinar Series, the Canadian Artists Network [formerly CSARN,] in collaboration with our friends at CARFAC, presents two online webinars on Artistic Legacy Preparation.
Part One will present the legal side. Lawyers Paul E. Bain of Dickinson Wright and Kevin Forrest of AFBS will cover wills, executors, powers of attorney, intellectual property and copyright, the burden on heirs, and other legal aspects of preparation.
Part Two will cover archiving. Marlena Wyman and Leah Murray will talk about preserving your works and your online presence, preparing records, what to keep, how to donate.

Both webinars will include plenty of time for questions.
Part One takes place on Thursday, May 25th at 1:00 PM Eastern | 10:00 AM Pacific Time. Chapter Two will follow on Thursday, June 1st at 1:00 PM Eastern | 10:00 AM Pacific.
The webinars will take place on Zoom. Both webinars are free but registration is required.
