Stratford Summer Music proudly presents “A World Transformed,” coming August 8 to the Avondale. This powerful performance by Toronto’s Echo Chamber uses contemporary dance and live music to tell the story of Matthew Shepard, a young man from Wyoming who was tragically killed because of his sexuality. His death was a turning point for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, igniting global action and change.
“A World Transformed” delves into the perspectives of both Matthew and his mother, Judy Shepard, a leading advocate for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights.
Renowned Canadian choreographer’s William Yong and Laurence Lemieux developed the dance sequences. The show features a talented lineup including singers Marcel d’Entremont and Christianne Rushton, pianists Dakota Scott-Digout and Mary Castello, violinist Aaron Schwebel, and dancers Johanna Bergfelt and Zachary Cardwell.
