Human, After All
Human After all is a 60-minute contemporary dance work by Impetus Movement Dance Company that explores the quiet yet powerful act of unveiling the self — the versions of who we are that often remain hidden beneath expectation, protection, and fear. It asks: Who are we behind closed doors? Who are we at our most vulnerable? And why do we, as humans, conceal parts of ourselves? These questions form the emotional backbone of the piece, guiding audiences through a landscape of introspection and honesty.
At its core, Human After all reflects the understanding that no matter how strong, guarded, or put-together we may appear, we still experience fear, doubt, love, and vulnerability. It recognizes that perfection is not realistic, because being human inherently includes flaws and contradictions. Within this realization lies a common thread that connects us all — emotion, imperfection, and the deep desire to belong. By acknowledging this shared experience, the work invites compassion for ourselves and others, reminding us that mistakes and vulnerability are natural rather than shameful. Come watch these beautiful dance artists bring this work to life!
