Power of Hope with Vinod Kevin Bachan (Odissi)

Hope is believing something will work, even in the face of uncertainty – it is a powerful force that can create a more beautiful world. In dance, hope can be an unstoppable fuel for the soul.
On March 12, we are proud to present renowned Odissi dancer Vinod Kevin Bachan. A master of grace and expression, his performances breathe life into classical poetry and prayers choreographed by Guru Ranjana Gauhar and legendary Guru Mayadhar Raut. Immersive storytelling is a signature element of Odissi, and these works illustrate that beautifully!
Presented by Upasana “The Spirit of Dance”, the POWER OF HOPE series of online virtual performances is a stunning showcase of the power of hope, mixed with passion and steeped in generations of dedication. Special thanks to Canadian Heritage for their support in bringing this series to life.

About the Dancer:
Vinod Kevin Bachan is a senior disciple of Padmashree & SNA Awardee Guru Ranjana Gauhar. Vinod had stepped into the world of Odissi at Nrityanjali Theatre in Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies.
Kevin made his journey to Odisha to study this timeless art form under the Deba Prasad Das style of Odissi in Bhubaneswar. He has also had extensive training in the south Indian art form of Kuchipudi as well as various regional folk of Odisha. As a budding artiste, Kevin performed in India and abroad, earning several awards and positive critique. He is a former scholarship holder of the Ministry of External Affairs- Indian Council for Cultural Relations, and is an empaneled artist of ICCR and All India Dancers Association.
Kevin has been the lead in many of his Guru’s productions, as well as at Utsav- Ranjana’s Odissi Dance Academy. Under the Guru-Shishya parampara, he is involved in a special methodology for teaching Odissi developed by his Guru at Utsav Ranjana’s Odissi Dance academy
