Dance Ontario’s Board of Director’s recently adopted a Call to Action to guide our organization. The statement was created by Dance Ontario’s Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee : Emily Cheung, Rob Galbraith, Patrick Parson, Suzan Richards, Jennifer Watkins, Yasmina Ramzy and Lisa Sandlos, with input from Katie Couchie.
Dance Ontario Call to Action
The province of Kanadario/Ontario is rich in the wide variety of diasporic cultures that reside here.
Dance Ontario acknowledges the history of colonization that influences many dance forms. We will strive to continually invest in our knowledge about dance practices, and commit to enabling and including all voices.
We will support diverse cultural dance expressions to reflect all people of Ontario, rejecting negative societal practices by upholding justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. We will accept and celebrate all dance in Ontario.
