Dance Umbrella of Ontario is proud to announce the appointment of Robert Sauvey as its new Executive Director. Robert succeeds Jennifer Bennett who has led the organization since 2012.
Robert brings a wealth of experience to the role, through his long and varied career working as a senior arts administrator in both the live and recorded arts. He most recently served as the Executive Director for Dancemakers, where he effectively led the company through a meaningful period of organizational transition. Prior to Dancemakers, he played key leadership roles at Groundswell Inc., Winnipeg’s longest running new music presenter, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and his own film and television production company, Ocular Productions.
“Robert’s extensive experience as a curator, producer, tour manager, and arts administrator will help DUO continue to grow in its ability to serve the community of dance artists in Ontario,” says Colleen Dempsey, Board Chair of DUO. “We are very grateful to Jennifer for her service and dedication to the organization over the past three years.”

Robert has served on many funding panels at various government levels, and as a board member for Artscape Winnipeg. DUO looks forward to having Robert bring his creativity, leadership, and passion for the dance sector to the team. Robert will begin his contract at DUO on June 22nd, 2015.
