About Chris Locko:

In 2007, two years after David Lachapelle’s RIZE film was released, Chris came across the K.R.U.M.P, which was a revelation for him. During the early years of his career, he met other Krumpers in the Paris region, at Montfermeil, France (93), where he started and met one of the first French Krump group in France « the Monstarz» From there, the adventure begins for him, as Chris makes his own way. He goes to New York to share with the Krumpers in the Bronx.

He also met Tight Eyez and Mijo, the creators of Krump, and other emblematic figures of Californian Krump (Raskel, BoyBad, Rapture, Bdash Crush in Paris. by participating in many battles and krump sessions, Chris has an increased knowledge of Krump. Today he lives in Canada and continues to develop the krump through the 3 main cities Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal including the USA.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself/your company?

My name is Chris 35 year old I’m originally from Paris and I’m a freestyling dancer specialist in Krump

What will you be sharing at DanceWeekend’24?

I will share the history of Krump but also my perspective in Krump, the foundation and the basics in fact what is the Krump.

How has the pandemic shifted your work as a professional dance artist?

The pandemic has a big impact in my artistic career because I came to Canada to develop my work and it happened 2 week before the covid started so I couldn’t do much stuck at home especially in the new country. I’m glad now it’s over.

Please share what you are most looking forward to at DanceWeekend?

I’m just exciting about the event to met others dancers and other dance recital. I like to meet new people and exchange knowledge and connections.

In 1 or 2 sentences, what does dance mean to you?

Dance is hidden language of the soul.
