Dance Umbrella of Ontario (DUO) is a not-for-profit arts service provider of administrative, production, strategic capacity building, finance and bookkeeping, marketing, and communications to Ontario’s dance artists, dance companies, and organizations. DUO was founded in 1988 by the Arts Councils to support dance artists and companies with their administrative and business activities. In addition to providing tailored and flexible services, DUO strengthens the dance sector by undertaking new strategic and progressive initiatives in partnership with organizations across the arts sector.
DUO supports and builds capacity for a wide variety of dance artists and dance companies in the creation, production, and dissemination of their art using an equity and diversity lens. Clientele includes dance artists, small- and mid-scale companies, and organizations based in Ontario who work in a variety of culturally diverse dance forms. DUO supports dance artists by providing the best and most appropriate services allowing our clients to grow their capacity as they focus on their dance practice. The Administrative Producer will manage multiple clients’ needs daily. The successful candidate will be a self-starter producing all administrative materials on behalf of DUO clients while maintaining exceptional client relations. This position reports directly to DUO’s Executive Director and collaborates across departments. The candidate will work out of the DUO offices five (5) days a week, with some off-site work being required.
The Administrative Producer will work with a roster of clients meeting their individual needs by providing tailored administrative and producer services. DUO’s clients range from established companies to emerging individual dance artists and represent various dance forms and practices. The Administrative Producer provides the following client service support:
- Develops and executes project plans for productions and client programs
- Displays a high degree of discretion and professionalism at all times
- Reviews, edits, and writes client grant applications working closely with the client.
- Working in collaboration with the clients to build and manage operational and project-specific budgets; financial and other reporting as required
- Maintains good relations with arts funders and dance presenters
- Creates and manages the contracting process for all artists, crew, presenters, and vendors
- Liaises with artistic and technical partners on scheduling and logistics. Liaises with the client’s production team on scheduling, logistics, and equipment
- Other duties as required
SALARY RANGE:
$48,000 — $55,000

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- An entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for the success of dance in Ontario
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a wide range of people and situations.
- Excellent time management skills; manages multiple projects simultaneously, sets and balances priorities, and meets multiple deadlines.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong people and networking skills
- Strong interest in attending multiple dance performances and community events
- An understanding of dance artists creation, development, and touring processes and needs
- Strong planning and coordination skills.
- Good strategic thinking skills; ability to see project and company trajectories
- Experience with public and private arts funding
- An understanding of the principles of not-for-profit and charitable organizations
- Familiar with working in a Google Suite cloud environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Qualifications: The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, professional arts administrator, with a passion for building the capacity of Ontario dance and has administrative experience in the non-profit sector. This position works out of the Office from Monday to Friday. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of software programs including; Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel), Adobe Suite, and Google Suite. Personal traits/requirements:
