CALL FOR ARTISTS: @dancemadeincanada is looking for MainStage & WYSIWYG artists for their 2025 festival!

dance: made in canada/fait au canada (d:mic/fac) Festival, is a biennial contemporary dance repertory festival that will be running from August 13 to 17, 2025 in Toronto. d:mic/fac Festival presents both new and existing works by established, mid-career and emerging choreographers working in Canada, a screen dance series and related activities.

This call is for artists wanting to present their stage work in a shared program – MainStage and/or WYSIWYG platform. Choreographers can apply to present a short work or an excerpt of a longer work. Performers can also apply to present a choreographer’s work with their permission.

What we call contemporary dance:

Contemporary = now.  Dance = movement.  We are interested in presenting excellent art work that takes place in our world today. Modern, street dance, tap, contemporary ballet, aerial dance, capoeira, folk, pre-colonial and cultural fusion, experimental; the list of dance forms goes on. We look forward to receiving proposals from professional dance artists of all genders, ethnicities, abilities and dance disciplines who would like to take part in our Festival.

There are two platforms:

Mainstage Series:  This is curated by three artists from Canada’s dance community, including Artistic Director Yvonne Ng and two guest curators, and

What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG): a lottery-based platform of short works.
