We are thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the d:mic/fac 2025 Festival, Toronto’s only biennial summer festival dedicated to contemporary dance! Founded in 2000 by Artistic Director Yvonne Ng and princess productions, the d:mic/fac Festival celebrates and promotes culturally diverse, independent dance artists from across Canada—spanning both established and emerging talents. This year, we are seeking to program short dance films, videos, and documentaries with durations ranging from 5 to 30 minutes. We encourage submissions that explore the exciting intersections between movement and media. Our preference is for films produced in 2023 and 2024. Please note that we are unable to provide feedback on submitted films, and only selected applicants will be contacted. The complete lineup for the d:mic/fac Festival will be announced in June 2025. In addition to being primarily a live performance festival, the d:mic/fac Festival has seen its Arts Encounters programming—including dance film screenings—grow in popularity over the past decade. This year, we will feature one live screening at the Carlton Cinema and three online screenings, available for a limited time. Tickets for the Carlton Cinema screenings will be offered on a sliding scale, while online screenings will be free with registration. Don’t miss this opportunity to share your work on film and video with a passionate audience! Deadline to apply February 27th 2025 until 11:59 PM EST.
