As a human, we can train three things; the mind, body, and craft. As dancers and dance educators, we have spent years building and nurturing body and craft, but have not yet explored the power of mental skills within our classes and performances. Join educator, facilitator and speaker Lauren Ritchie for the Community Workshop, “Mental Skills in Dance” as part of the #DanceONSeries. On June 9th from 2-3:30 pm. Lauren will share research and foundations of mental skills, as well as awareness and resilience exercises that can be easily applied before, during, and after training and performance. You don’t want to miss this session from a professional Mental Performance Consultant!

About the Facilitator:

Lauren Ritchie (MEd, BA, ESFCC) has been researching, studying, and educating dancers and teachers on the physical, emotional and mental intricacies of dance. She holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Victoria in Coaching Studies with a focus on mental skills training. Recognizing the lack of mental skills training in dance, Lauren has created programs and exercises dedicated to educating and empowering both dancers’ and educators’ mental health and mindset to optimize physical and artistic training. She is focused on helping performers of all kinds to practice and perform optimally, with grit, grace, and resilience. Her work is centered on aiding clients to use their minds and bodies in complementary ways by uncovering, developing, and harnessing their mental and emotional resources. Lauren is currently delivering mental skills workshops internationally to dancers and dance educators.

An established educator, facilitator and speaker, Lauren has worked with prestigious schools and programs like Harbour Dance Centre, the Alberta Ballet School, the Dancer Transition Resource Centre, Capilano University and The Bridge Program with The Protege Movement. Lauren is also a Student Member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA). She created the renowned Mental Skills Training Teacher Training, is the co-founder of the Dance Teacher retreat, and has been a keynote speaker for the Women In Sport Speaker Series, Dance Studio Owners Association, House of Jazz (London), and the Dance Teacher Expo.

She is also the producer and host of The Dance Podcast; an invaluable resource dedicated to inspiring and educating dancers, teachers, and parents. Ritchie unpacks and decodes each guest’s professional journey, mental framework, and mindset skills and practices. Past guests include Mia Michaels, NappyTabs, Misty Lown, Alex Wong, Stacey Tookey, Clint Salter, Josh Assor, and Bree Wasylenko.
