Luminato Festival, 2014 presents the Toronto premiere of legendary choreographer Pina Bausch’s Kontakthof, a landmark exploration of male-female relations, globally recognised as a contemporary masterpiece.
First staged in 1978 by Bausch’s then five-year-old company Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, her brilliantly minimalist Kontakthof begins with separated groups of men and women in a drab dance hall and subtly, cunningly emerges as a powerfully emotional examination of the need, and quest, for not just intimacy but love.
