Can you tell us a little bit about yourself/your company?

My name is Alli Robb and I am a TMU BFA alumni, along with many of our company members! This group has come together for this project “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin'” because of their tremendous versatility in terms of dance styles and skills, but also because of their open, positive, and infectiously radiant energies. In a time of great turmoil, I think it is pertinent to hold onto the things that bring us joy, and bring us together, and evidently, dance has that power. Our company members exude this sunshine as both people, and as performers, and are excited to share this uplifting and light-hearted expression of joy with the DanceWeekend audience!

What will you be sharing at DanceWeekend’25
We will be sharing a contemporary hip hop fusion dance piece, involving athletic floorwork, upbeat grooves, playful character moments, and feel-good dance breaks! We will also have an element of audience participation, teaching viewers some of our favourite moves from the piece, and encouraging them to try them out during a dance party at the end of the set!
Please share what you are most looking forward to at DanceWeekend?
We are most looking forward to witnessing and supporting other companies and individuals from this community! It is so exciting to have so many artists from all walks of life sharing the stage. We can’t wait to be inspired by this wonderful community!
Do you have any up-coming performances/workshops/events you would like to share?
We are performing in Fever After Dark this Thursday night at the Axis Club Theatre in Toronto! Tickets are $30 cash at the door, and it is a 19+ event!
What does dance mean to you?
Dance is the most liberating act we can perform. Through dance, one can experience cathartic release, feel on top of the world, empower themselves, empower others, process difficult emotions, become someone else, reveal their most authentic selves, hold up a mirror to human nature, connect deeply with others, and experience invigorating joy, and I truly think there is nothing better in life.
