DanceWeekend’25 Artist Feature: The Chimera Project

The Chimera Project will share a highly physical duet from their Dora nominated work Soft at the DanceWeekend’25 Dance Party.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself/your company?
At the age of 17, Malgorzata returned to Poland, and started her professional performance career in a large-scale musical-theatre production of Metro, in Warsaw After returning to Canada, she pursued a degree at The Ontario College of Art and Design University in classical visual arts and integrated arts, eventually focusing on computer programming and web development due to the financially rewarding aspect of that field at the time. Simultaneously, she continued her dance training as an apprentice with Debbie Wilson’s OMO Dance Co. Malgorzata wrote her thesis in choreography, and to date is the only choreographer to emerge from OCAD-U. Her thesis dance project was the launch of Chimera in 1999. www.chimeradt.org

Do you have any up-coming performances/workshops/events you would like to share?
We are performing Silly Billy, a work for young audiences, as part of Prologue for the Performing Arts
What does dance mean to you?
Dance is a beautiful expression of instinctual and mysterious aspects of our existence, and also an undervalued art form.
