Across Oceans Arts, lead by Maxine Heppner. creates and facilitates platforms for creation of artwork and exchange of ideas and perspectives that investigate the Art and Community of Collaboration. Key programs include The Choreographic Marathon, 7 Days of Creation, PREP challenging work challenging artists, and Krima.
We believe that all the Arts are inherently collaborative activities between artists and artists, artists and communities, whether a formal event or a casual get-together. Our bias is work springing from our human bodies in motion.
Programming includes ongoing training and practice, live performance, 2-D and 3-D art exhibits, film/video screenings, public forums, open practice and workshops, advanced training and research. In conventional theatres, galleries, rice fields, city harbours, the events are produced to delight in exchange between artists, individuals and communities through the arts. Based in Toronto, Canada, Across Oceans interactions have involved participants from all continents, across generations, forms, heritages, and experiences. Collaborations in the deepest sense of the word: the coming together of people with different perspectives, experiences, and training, artists and audience, to find common visions and to create relevant expressive vocabularies that reflect their creative interchanges.
