Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre (CCDT) is a Toronto-based repertory company of exceptional next-generation dance artists founded in 1980 by Artistic Director Deborah Lundmark and Managing Director Michael deConinck Smith. Performance highlights include appearances at Toronto’s Princess of Wales and Royal Alexandra Theatres for the Creative Trust and Dancers for Life Galas, five invitations to the Canada Dance Festival and tours to Singapore, Malaysia, China and Scotland. A leading regional touring company, CCDT has introduced 300,000 young people to dance through its Ontario Arts Access program, and won the Toronto Arts Foundation’s prestigious Arts for Youth Award for its development of young artists and young audiences.  The company has been featured at Fall For Dance North, Toronto’s premiere international dance festival, at Harbourfront’s Junior International Festival, Canada’s ground-breaking showcase for young audiences, and at the José Limón Dance Company 70th Anniversary International Dance Festival in New York City.  Company dancers have gone on to perform with 44 Canadian and 32 international companies, to found 12 national and international companies and to lead several highly regarded Canadian dance programs. The company has been hailed as a national treasure by Canada’s national newspaper, The Globe and Mail.
