EMILY WING-MEI CHEUNG is an accomplished choreographer specializing in contemporary dance with Asian aesthetics. Throughout her entire career, she has dedicated herself to educating, presenting, and preserving dance. Her expertise spans both Chinese and contemporary dance styles, allowing her to deeply integrate and hybridize them, resulting in unique ‘Cheung Movements’ that signify a distinct Chinese Canadian identity. Emily has performed and presented her choreography in China, the United States, and Canada.

Beyond her artistic contributions, Emily has been recognized for her significant impact on the community. She was honored as one of the 15 Canadians in Voices of Chinese Canadian Women for her outstanding work in building a strong and vibrant community. Additionally, she has been a Finalist for the Muriel Sherrin Awardand the Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prizes (Les Prix Johanna-Metcalf de la scène).

As the Artistic Director of Little Pear Garden Dance Company, Emily continues to inspire and elevate Chinese and contemporary dance through teaching, choreography, and dedication to preserving and evolving this beautiful art form.
