Erik Alvaro, also known as Mr. Slick, is a Filipino-Canadian dance artist, educator, and choreographer. Erik is an active member in the Ottawa dance scene, engaging in various dance forms, including Punking/Posing/Waacking, Filipino Folk, House, Locking, Hip Hop, Latin Hustle, Mambo, and Tap. Gaining knowledge and experience through years of training with the Culture Shock dance organization and as well at The Flava Factory Street Dance School. Erik’s endeavors have given him opportunities to train and perform in cities such as Peru, Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C, Vancouver, Toronto, and Montréal. From 2022 to 2024, had served as the Artistic Director for Culture Shock Ottawa, honing dancers’ development and troupe choreography. Currently, Erik teaches Waacking at The Flava Factory. As well as a founding dancer in the Filipino adult dance troupe collective Tadhanana ng Kapwa Ottawa (Destiny of Shared Identity Ottawa)
