Dawson Lloyd (he/him) is a multidisciplinary performer, creator, educator, and
videographer based in Toronto, Ontario. He is a queer dance artist who draws from
his lived experiences to engage with the community and inform his artistic
practice.Dawson is an accomplished choreographer. In 2024, his full-length show
Hope premiered in Toronto. He has produced numerous contemporary and
commercial stage works, as well as dance short films. His credits include Dance
Ontario Weekend, Fall for Dance North’s IPP Program, Nuit Blanche, 123 Dance
Arts, and the Contemporary Film Series, Bibliophile film and Alien Superstar Film.
Dawson is the founder of Impetus Movement Dance Company, which focuses on
contemporary and contemporary fusion movement. Under his direction, the
company has performed and taught across Toronto and throughout the province.
Beyond his creative work, Dawson has performed in contemporary pieces by
Hannah Kiel, Gadfly Dance Company, Jera Wolfe, Merce Cunningham, and
Christina Digiuseppe.
As a passionate educator, Dawson teaches at various dance studios and
companies across the city and province. He is a proud faculty member at StudioNorth Toronto and The Underground Dance Centre, and he also runs pre-
professional programs designed to help emerging artists grow and flourish.
Dawson is an advocate for queer representation in dance education and
performance spaces, and he is committed to offering a safe, inclusive environment
where artists can explore, create, and share.
