Knox Harter is a multi-disciplinary performer, dancer, choreographer and creator based in Toronto.
Originally a classically trained dancer with a B.F.A. in Performance Dance from Ryerson University, Knox Harter has extensive training in ballet, contemporary, jazz and musical theatre in particular. Her early career consisted of regular national tours with Motus O Dance Theatre based in Stouffville, stage work with the Canadian Opera Company, featured appearances with Love Letters Cabaret, and consistent work both as a dancer and choreographer for club and corporate event entertainment. She has taught in dance studios, public schools and communities hubs since her teens, educating participants young and old, beginner to pro. Knox’s foray into burlesque began after a successful audition in 2009, and she has since created a broad repertoire of burlesque acts that have been seen across Canada and Europe.
Knox began her role as an artistic director, choreographer and performer with High Society Cabaret in 2012, where she was wearing multiple hats as she oversaw client entertainment bookings, regular theatrical productions and monthly burlesque shows. The company closed its doors in 2020 due to the effects of the Covid-19 global pandemic.
In 2023, after two years of strategy, Knox soft launched Mayfly Creative Productions: an event entertainment company and burlesque production house. Knox also returned to teaching after an extended leave and joined the staff at Rouge Studio of Dance at their Toronto location.
Knox is known for her emotional performances with dynamic movement and impressive physical ability. Her repertoire of acts consists of full and lively characters ranging from sweet and humorous to severe and sinister. Her group choreography is known for dynamic and interesting musicality and complex shapes and formations. Her intensity radiates into the audience for an engaging and thrilling spectacle. Be warned, she has been known to step past the fourth wall, making friends with patrons and creating unforgettable, and one-of-a-kind performance moments.
