MOTUS O’s General Manager, Jack Langenhuizen and Digital Storyteller Jeff Young, were absolutely thrilled to have represented MOTUS O dance theatre at the annual Festival of Recognition in Toronto Ontario where the company received the March of Dimes 2016 Community Partnership Award on September 27th, 2016.
This award recognizes and celebrates “an organization or community group for outstanding collaboration with March of Dimes Canada in support of persons with disabilities”.
MOTUS O’s company members James Croker, Cynthia Croker and Jack Langenhuizen, Laura Day, Daniella Warner and Jeff Young were recognized for all the work they have done in promoting awareness of aphasia in the community, providing expressive movement workshops in the Aphasia and Communication Disabilities Program as well as at several Aphasia Camps to clients and caregivers, all part of March of Dimes Canada. The work was originally initiated by Ruth Patterson, Clinical Coordinator, Alternative Communication Services of March of Dimes Canada.
The March of Dimes Aphasia program has been funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation and is part of a 3 year grant MOTUS O received in 2014.
