The Dance Current wishes Grace Elliott well as she takes on new challenges, and we welcome Anne Dion as our new editor-in-chief and Swadhi Ranganee as managing editor.

Grace Elliott (formerly Grace Wells-Smith) has decided to move on from her role as editor-in-chief at The Dance Current after working for the organization for eight years; she began as an intern in 2015. Grace’s energy, intelligence and deep knowledge of the dance milieu enabled her to be a fearsome and effective leader, and the staff and board would like to extend their sincerest gratitude for the amazing work she contributed over the years.

Former deputy editor Anne Dion has stepped into the role of editor-in-chief and her first issue will be Spring 2023, which will celebrate 25 years of The Dance Current. Anne brings her training in both journalism and dance to the team along with an infectious positive spirit. She earned her BA in cultural studies and world cinema from McGill University in 2017 and her MA in modern literature from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2019, where she earned the highest GPA in her graduating class and won the award for best performance at a practicum placement. Anne originally joined the editorial team of The Dance Current  in 2019 as an intern, and the staff and board are pleased to offer her this opportunity to lead the team into the next 25 years of The Dance Current.

Joining Anne on the editorial team will be Swadhi Ranganee as managing editor. Swadhi recently worked with The Dance Current as guest editor for Winter 2023, and the staff and board are very excited to have the opportunity to work with her on a permanent basis. Swadhi is an emerging artist who practises Sinhalese Kandyan and low-country traditional and folk dance with the aim of creating modern expressions for these forms while maintaining their aesthetic markers. She also holds a MA in English.
