It brings me great pleasure to welcome Janet Yale as the Chair to the Board of Directors.

Janet is very familiar to OTF. She was first appointed to the Board in May 2011 and was Vice-Chair since May 2014. Her true passion has long been found in the non-profit sector where she has been recognized as a proven innovator and leader. Janet is currently the President and CEO of The Arthritis Society. Prior to that, Janet served as CEO of Scouts Canada and held multiple senior leadership roles at TELUS, including as national chair of TELUS’ Community Boards and executive vice-president of Corporate Affairs, further developing and refining TELUS’ innovative leadership with its unique corporate philanthropy model. Recipient of several prestigious business and community awards, Janet is an active member of the Ottawa community. She is a member of the Board of CARE Canada, Samara and the Ottawa Art Gallery. She was the past chair of the National Arts Centre Gala and the Board of Directors of the Ottawa United Way/Centraide.

It is with mixed feelings we say good bye to Dr. Dev Sainani who served as the Chair for the last three years. He was appointed as a Grand Review Team volunteer in 2005 and was appointed as the Chair in 2012. We like to thank Dev for his dedication and leadership. It definitely strengthened the organization, especially in this time of transformation.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation has recently announced new granting programs and investment strategy which are evidence based, and focuses on creating measurable, positive impact in Ontario communities. As the new Chair, Janet is committed to providing leadership and guidance to support the successful implementation of the Foundation’s new strategy.
