About Process+Practice

Presented by Assembly Hall in partnership with TOES FOR DANCE, Process+Practice is a new dance residency pilot program at Assembly Hall.

The Process+Practice Dance Residency supports local dance artists in the research, creation and presentation of new works, while offering compelling artistic experiences for community members to engage with the artform of dance. This new program holds time and space for dancer/choreographer experimentation, discussion and celebration; nurturing artistic development and community-building.

The structure of the residency is a two-year program for artists with rehearsal space in two consecutive summers, and a performance opportunity in the following autumn. A new cohort of 2 artists/projects will begin each year, starting in 2023.

Public events will include Open Rehearsals (starting in August 2023), Community Workshops (starting in August 2024), and a Double Bill Performance Series (starting in October 2024).

A Call to Dance Artists will be released in Summer 2023 to seek applications for the 2024-2025 cohort. Stay tuned for more details!
