As a follow-up to Jane Marsland’s Innovation Fellowship paper, Shared Platforms and Charitable Venture Organizations, Metcalf has commissioned independent consultant Daniel Bernhard to complete a formal business study. This study would determine the financial viability of establishing an independent organization that would serve the arts sector in Canada as a shared platform – a legal and adminsitrative home that could save emerging companies from having to incorporate as independent charities with their own administrative staff and Board of Directors.
To support the business study, Daniel, working with Metcalf, is conducting a wide-reaching national survey of the sector to assess the market for such an organization with existing independent artists and small-scale organizations. It is important that we receive as broad a response as possible to this survey, from independent artists and small organizations across the country working in diverse artistic practices including the literary, media, performing, and visual arts.
