The School of Dance is pleased to announce that our Contemporary Dance Programme now offers a joint diploma degree with York University’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours B.F.A.) in Dance. This new collaboration draws on the complementary strengths of both institutions, and is similar to the existing Honours B.F.A. joint program in Dance offered with Canada’s National Ballet School and the School of Toronto Dance Theatre. The program is consistent with the Academic Plan of the York Faculty of Fine Arts and the University’s strategic priority regarding the development of professionally related programs.

“The Department of Dance at York University is pleased to partner with an institution in our Nation’s Capital that demonstrates excellence in training young contemporary dancers of today.”

Susan Cash, Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Dance

“I am so pleased that we are announcing this joint venture. It is a milestone for the Contemporary Dance Programme; a significant seal of approval for the education we provide. For the students, it is an important recognition for the very hard work that they do, day to day, as they become professional dance artists. Furthermore, it is the first ever and unique possibility for students to acquire university level credits in the field of dance in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.”
