A definite highlight of 2022 for Dance ON has been the successful and dynamic presentation of WINDOWS OF TIME: A MULTI-REGIONAL FILM PROJECT THAT CELEBRATES COMMUNITY, CONNECTION AND THE POWER OF DANCE.
Dance ON and 5 of our Regional Dance Networks combined forces with concept creator/dance artist Andrea Nann and concept creator/filmmaker Henry Mak of Dreamwalker Dance Company. Windows of Time is a metaphor for the many barriers we face; defined by the Pandemic. The project united and showcased the communities of Windsor, London, Sault Saint Marie, Halton and Dufferin.
WINDOWS OF TIME Premiere Weekend back in February, presented in collaboration with Dreamwalker Dance Company, offered three days of FREE online and interactive events. The weekend started with the premiere film that united footage from all 5 regions. A panel talk with creators and dancers closed the first evening of the weekend which culminated with a facilitated movement session with Andrea Nann.
“Windows of Time was defined by our current global situation. The window is a transparent barrier that has separated and protected us, trapped and restricted us, isolated and contained us. It has kept us safe but also apart. We have been communicating through windows in our homes and in digital spaces with our loved ones and strangers. “ Andrea Nann
The ripple effects of the project’s impact continued into the months of March and April with the Regional film premiere events within Windsor, London, Sault Saint Marie, Halton and Dufferin. Each Regional Dance Network screened their very own Windows of Time film with exclusive footage of the dancers and locations of their region. The individual enrichment of Windows of Time towards each region is coupled with the creation of community among the Regional Dance Networks and beyond.
